What are the roles that each ingredient plays in your bags?Updated 2 months ago
PBAT - Binding agent and main material of compostable bags that keeps all ingredients intact and also helps expedite the breakdown process of the ingredients once moisture or bacteria are introduced as part of the decomposing / break down process.
PLA - Made from renewable plant material (i.e., cornstarch), it helps increase the stiffness and longitudinal tensile strength of the compostable bag.
Cornstarch - A renewable material that allows for compostable bags to biodegrade (or break down) in a composting environment (and also derived from non-GMO corn).
Calcium Carbonate (for our 13 gallon drawstring bag) - A mineral deposit that helps with slowing down the moisture absorption from disposed food and wet items.
